A Legacy of Solutions & Innovation: Inflector Environmental Services Marks 30 Year

Inflector Environmental Services is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Inflector has established itself as a national leader in environmental contracting and prides itself on providing innovative environmental solutions to its customers with an industry leading commitment to health and safety.
Founded from the basement of the Clarke family home by Jeff R. Clarke in 1994, Inflector (then known as Inflector Controls) initially sold reflective solar screen window panels to government clients to promote heating and cooling efficiency in Federal government buildings. In his early sales calls, Clarke realized that many of his customers seemed preoccupied with another more pressing environmental concern: namely, the presence of asbestos (and other hazardous materials) in many government buildings. As a born entrepreneur, Clarke did not hesitate to swiftly pivot the business and relaunch as Inflector Environmental Services in the summer of 1994.
With the help of his wife Margaret and long-time family friend Lin Williams in the back office, Clarke quickly found success winning government and residential contracts for his nascent business but realized that he needed to compliment his business development expertise with a strong leader in the field. The only man for the job was the incomparable David Walsh. A veteran of the abatement industry and a first-class field operator, Walsh joined as a partner and Inflector Environmental Services—with its small, dynamic team—was off and running and would grow to become a top regional environmental contractor.
In 2014, the Inflector world was rocked by the sudden passing of its founder, Jeff R. Clarke. Through this tragedy, Inflector found its next great leader in Jeff W. Clarke—the founder’s eldest son. Jeff W., then just twenty-two, had worked summers in the field and brought with him a wealth of experience and a dream to expand upon his father’s life’s work. With the ship righted, Jeff W. and Walsh embarked on an ambitious growth strategy to become a true national player in environmental services. Opening offices in Kingston, Halifax, Edmonton and Toronto, Inflector steadily grew its workforce and began bidding on larger and more sophisticated projects culminating in the completion one of the largest environmental and remediation projects in Canadian history.
Inflector’s next phase of growth was propelled by an in-bound investment from Fengate Private Equity in 2022. Armed with investment capital, Inflector acquired renowned Atlantic Canadian environmental services company EnviroBate Environmental in late 2022 and followed it up with the acquisition of Donalco Inc. — a Toronto based fire spray business — in 2023.
