Donalco has been a leader in the construction industry for over 50 years, specializing in fireproofing and firestopping solutions for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. Our services include spray-applied fireproofing, firestopping and intumescent coatings. From small-scale projects to large-scale endeavours, we offer quality solutions. We are seeking individuals who are motivated, hardworking & ready to join our team. This position is for experienced technicians in an industrial construction environment; specializing in spray-applied fireproofing (mineral fiber, cementitious, monoglass and sonoglass), intumescent coatings and firestopping applications.
Responsibilities

- Assisting in the setup and operation of equipment used for fireproofing, such as sprayers and pumps.

- Mixing and applying fireproofing materials according to manufacturer guidelines and project requirements.

- Working collaboratively with team members to achieve project goals efficiently and safely.

- Adhering to all safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Qualifications/Experience

About the Position
We are seeking a General Laborer & Abatement Technician to join our team of demolition and environmental abatement experts. This position is ideal for someone who is looking to start an exciting career within the construction industry. As a General Laborer & Abatement Technician, you will be responsible for demolition, remediation and abatement work ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Set up hazardous material containment areas.

- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment to perform demolition, removal, and disposal tasks.
- Conduct cleaning and decontamination procedures to ensure work areas meet safety standards.
- Work on abatement projects in both industrial, commercial, and residential environments.
- Follow company safety policies and regulatory procedures for hazardous material removal.
- Communicate with team members and assist in ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Adhere to all provincial and local compliance standards.

Qualifications
- Knowledge in hazardous materials abatement and remediation preferred.
- Construction industry experience would be an asset.
- Able to obtain a Secret Level Security Clearance an asset.

We are seeking a motivated and organized Health and Safety Manager to enhance our Health & Safety Program across Ontario and Quebec. This role is central to driving safety excellence,
embodying safety leadership through robust communication, collaborative efforts, and innovative
strategies aimed at nurturing a culture of safety excellence. The Health & Safety Manager will have a broad scope, overseeing health and safety activities across various projects, including implementing prevention strategies, safety reporting, risk assessments, and conducting detailed
audits.
With a specific focus in Kingston, Ottawa, and Montreal, the role demands strategic planning and
stakeholder engagement to elevate safety practices. Responsibilities also extend to leading safety committees and orchestrating site visits to affirm compliance with safety standards and foster a
proactive safety environment. Through dedicated leadership, this position plays a crucial role in reinforcing our commitment to health and safety, creating a secure working environment for all employees by proactively identifying hazards and implementing comprehensive safety measures.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Inflectors representation on matters of health and safety with clients, provincial bodies, and regulatory agencies, ensuring the company’s interests and compliance are effectively communicated and upheld.
- Develop and update health & safety policies and procedures in alignment with current occupational health & safety regulations, standards, and best practices within the industry, specifically tailored to Inflector’s scope of work.
- Direct and supervise regular inspections at project and construction sites to ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
- Lead the development and implementation of project specific hazard assessments on worksites, providing expert advice to construction and project managers on mitigating risks and addressing areas of concern.
- Oversee and conduct thorough investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Chair the Joint Occupational Health & Safety (JOHS) committee, setting agendas, ensuring the follow-up of action items, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
- Coordinate and manage travel for health and safety oversight to job locations in Kingston, Ottawa, and Montreal ensuring comprehensive coverage and support across projects.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety documentation strategy, leveraging tools like SiteDocs for efficient audit trails, maintenance, and preparation of safety documentation.
- Strategically manage resources, including the procurement and maintenance of office/warehouse first aid supplies, fire extinguishers, and personal protective equipment, ensuring readiness and compliance across all locations.
- Lead COR and ISO audits for Ontario and Quebec, driving improvements and ensuring Inflector’s continuous compliance and recognition in safety excellence.
- Oversee the filing of Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB, CNESST) claims, ensuring timely and accurate submissions and advocating for the organization and its employees.
- Analyze, interpret, and report on safety trends on a monthly and quarterly basis within the assigned regions, providing insights and strategic direction to senior management for continuous safety improvement.
- Direct the design and delivery of new employee safety orientation programs, ensuring comprehensive understanding and compliance with Inflector’s Health & Safety Program across all levels of the organization.
- Ensure company wide compliance with Inflector’s Health & Safety Program, leading by example and instituting a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
- Execute strategic leadership and administrative oversight on all matters relating to Health &
Safety, including the development of long-term safety strategies, budgeting for safety
initiatives, and representing the company in external safety forums. - Perform additional management level duties as required to maintain and enhance the
health and safety culture within Inflector, including strategic planning, stakeholder
engagement, and leadership in safety excellence initiatives.
Experience, Skills & Competencies:
- Must be fully bilingual in English and French.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Health & Safety Manager Role in the construction,
oil and gas, or other high-risk industry. - Safety designations such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), National
Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), National Health & Safety Administrator (NHSA),
Construction Safety Specialist (CSS) considered a strong asset. - Detailed knowledge and understanding of regulatory standards that apply to Inflector’s
work and the construction and hazardous material abatement industry. - Experience with managing WSIB and CNESST accounts
- Other certifications such as ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, and COR Internal Auditor WHMIS,
considered an asset. - Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, problem solving abilities, and professional
judgment. - Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, etc.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self driven and motivated. Must be willing and able to take initiative.
- Enthusiastic team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Dynamic Work Setting: Offers a mix of field and office environments; involves approximately 70% field work and 30% office work.
- Physical Capability: Must be physically capable of navigating job sites for
inspections, investigations, and audits. Also, must be fit and able to wear respiratory
protection equipment, including various types of full and half face respirators. - Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Secret Level Security Clearance.
- Hazardous Materials: Required to enter and examine active abatement areas
containing Asbestos, Lead, Silica, Mold, etc. - Working at Heights: Must be willing to inspect work zones involving working at heights.
- Confined Spaces: May be required to enter and inspect confined spaces.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel in Ontario and Quebec.
